Artist: Ray Crane

Biography:
Ray Crane has been a professional artist for more than 30 years, including tenure as artist-in-residence for Boston's Museum of Science/ Charles Hayden Planetarium. Early in his career, he was known for dramatic astronomical paintings, and for award-winning work depicting the early the days of aviation in America. Today, his paintings focus on the rich maritime heritage of Essex County and New England, and are characterized by sweeping vistas, calm seas and radiant light. He is a graduate of the Boston Museum School and has his studio/gallery in Rockport.

Exhibitions and Awards
Crane's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries through the U.S. and is in the collection of the Smithsonian Institution/ National Air & Space Museum as well as many private collections nationwide. It has also appeared in books, magazines and calendars, and won many awards.
