Biography:
Betty Lou Schlemm is a member of the American Watercolor Society and has been elected a member of its Dolphin Fellowship. She has served as a regional vice president, a past director, and feels her greatest accomplishment was being awarded the American Watercolor Society's Silver Medal.
Betty Lou has served as secretary of the Allied Artists of America, painted for NACAL (the United States Navy), as vice president of the Boston Watercolor Society and as president of the Rockport Art Association.

Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in the East are among publications where her name can be found, as well as full chapters in the books Being an Artist and Learn Watercolor the Edgar Whitney Way, both of North Light Publications.

Painting with Light, a Watson Guptill publication and Watercolor Secrets for painting Light, a North Light Publication are her own books on teaching watercolor painting. She has also compiled ten books including The Best of Watercolor, (books 1, 2, and 3 for Rockport Publishers), and has been featured in many books throughout the years and in articles both in North Light and the American Artist magazine's "Teacher Achievement Award".

Betty Lou has been known for 30 years for her watercolor workshops in Rockport as well as teaching throughout our country and in Europe. She was invited lecturer/demonstrator to the Victorian Artist's Society in Melborne, Australia.

Betty Lou lives in Rockport, Massachusetts.
