What is Tithing Our Talents™?

Tithing Our Talents is a simple concept available to any organization or group of individuals - visual and performing artists, writers, poets, musicians, artisans, dancers, but not limited to the arts - who wish to donate their talents to effect social change.

The purpose of this web site is to show examples of how groups of generous individuals have come together in creative ways to practice their art, share inspiration, learn and grow, while raising funds for causes they believe in. It is our belief that human creativity is one of the most powerful forces on earth. By using our creativity - in creative ways - we can not only exercise and enhance our own talents but use our gifts to effect powerful change in society.

It is our hope that talented people of many different skills will draw inspiration from the ideas we present here and use them to create their own Tithing Our Talents event. There is nothing to buy and no cost involved other than those you decide upon for your particular event. Though the Tithing Our Talents events discussed here involve the visual arts we hope that others -of all disciplines including athletics, academics, hobbyists, etc. - will devise their own Tithing Our Talents events to support the charities and causes of their choice.

We hope you will share your experiences - and pictures! - with us so we can share them here for all to draw inspiration from.

Thank you for considering our ideas! We sincerely believe that by using our talents and natural gifts we can change the world.

About our Logo: When designing the logo for Tithing Our Talents I wanted to convey two concepts - the gentleness of each person's individual contribution and the astonishing power that such a contribution could result in. Therefore I chose two images that are frequent favorites of artists - gently falling leaves and the power of an ocean wave. - KV

The function of art is to deepen our communion with the universe. Art isn't a profession but a priesthood." - Goethe
